Indoor Generators

INDOOR GENERATORS

Gasoline generators are essential companions during
power outages. Unfortunately, they are not safe for indoor use. But there are
many alternative solutions like lithium power stations. These generators can
run indoor appliances. As you know, a portable generator is an effective source
of power during blackouts. People who have their own generators can sleep
better especially during summer. The installation of an indoor generator
requires a lot of serious thinking. First, you should be aware of the power
usage.   Secondly, you much be able to satisfy all the safety
procedures before the installation. You must be able to utilize the backup
generator when required. The following are some of the guidelines before buying
an indoor generator.

4.Ego Power + Nexus

At the first sight, it looks very classy to buy. You would have come across many generators having good specifications but they cannot tolerate bad weather. But this type of generator is weather resistant. It is lighter than the Yeti 3000.

There are two big disadvantages to Ego Power + Nexus. The first and foremost is the low battery capacity. Though the batteries are in good condition, they have low capacity. If you purchase additional batteries to boost the energy level, the maximum capacity is only 30Ah of power. If you are looking for a large-capacity battery, then this type of generator is not for you. The next challenging problem is, Ego Power + Nexus cannot be used as a long-term power source. Unlike other power stations, it doesn’t support recharging by solar panels. It has excellent 56V lithium batteries. The Nexus have to overheat and overloading the shut-off with warnings. Thus, a small device can be used to control and monitor the functioning of the generator with the help of Wi-Fi connectivity. The quality of the design is the top class. An added advantage is that it gives a remarkable 5-year warranty on the indoor generator and 3-year for the batteries.

Pros

  • Weather resistant
  • Low cost

Cons

  • Low battery capacity.
  • No optimization of solar panels.

6.Sun Joe SJ1440SG

The Sun Joe SJ1440SG is a fuel-free generator with portable power for starting household electronics, RV trips, power tools, etc. It is equipped with 2 car auxiliary outlets and a couple of USB ports and plug outlets. This generator is made of plastic and metal with a 2-year warranty. It can be used for home and industry. The batteries are combined with less efficient inverters compared to other generators. It requires a 24-hour AC charge. The use of a modified sine wave inverter makes this generator different from other indoor generators. Hence, the efficiency of Sun Joe is rated at 85%.  It has a 4-inch LCD display that helps in monitoring input and output battery levels. The surge capacity of 1800W is enough to provide the inrush current to start a refrigerator or television but the ability to start more than two appliances at a time is limited. This generator gives inputs for a solar panel. Using a single 60W Sun Joe solar panel, it takes about 60-hours to charge the internal battery. It is heavier than other generators. If you are looking for low cost and only a few specifications, Sun Joe SJ1440SG is the generator for you.

Determine the requirement

The first question that first pops on our mind is, where do you install the generator? At home or at the office? Next question is, what are all the equipment you need to charge during a blackout? The best way to avoid confusion is to make a list of items that are needed the most during power outages. Walk around your house to determine which are the necessary appliances that needto be charged during a power cut.

Calculate Wattage requirement

You must determine the Wattage requirements in advance. Because in general indoor applications require less wattages than that for outdoors. Hence you must be smart in choosing the generator with appropriate specifications to avoid wasting of money and power.

Budget

Once the requirements are decided, then we are ready to look at the budget. Indoor generators are available in all prices, sizes, and shapes, you have to decide the budget that will suit your requirement.

Charging Options

The indoor generators don’t require any refuelling but there is a need for an initial level of charging the battery. The easiest way of charging is done by using the main electricity. The most effective way of charging is to connect the power pack to the solar panel. It helps in reducing the charging hours. You can charge the smaller power packs by plugging them to the lighter socket in your car.

Portability

Generators might be difficult to move. The generator can be huge in size and can take a lot of effort to lift. When you have appliances at a distant place, it might be necessary to move the generator from one place to another. Hence, portability is an important factor in deciding the best indoor generators. Although Portability is an advantage, there is a trade-off between portability and power.

Inverter

An inverter can convert direct current to alternating current. The power supply is safe only if the power bank has a true sine wave inverter.
A low budget power bank may use modified sine waves which is less efficient. Hence you have to check whether the power bank can provide pure sine wave power.
Here are some of the Top 6  indoor generators.

Here are some of the Top 6  indoor generators.

Advantages of Indoor generators

  • They can be used in places where an outdoor generator isn’t an option e.g. apartments.
  • Weather resistant.
  • No need to store the fuel.
  • They operate quietly. They don’t disturb conversations at normal volume.
  • The power station is portable so you can supply the power anywhere.
